Timber Lake Trail passes through forests and meadows to reach the open area at Timber Lake. Timber Lake is located 4.8 miles from the Timber Creek Trailhead on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park. It shares a large, level basin with two adjacent ponds beneath Mt Ida. A well-cut trail leads through diverse forests and luxuriant meadows where moose and elk sightings are common. Take a quick side hike to beautiful Granite falls off the trail. From there you will continue to the Tonahutu/North Inlet trailhead as you explore the Big Meadows area as the trail leads you riverside to breathtaking views along the way. Itinerary Details

You’ll put in work with your own two feet during the day, but you can sit back and relax as your guides set up camp and make you dinner after trekking through the mountains. We at AVA Rafting & Zipline believe every guest should know how much they’re spending prior to their trip. We provide extensive lists of suggested items to bring as well as what gear you should have, and what AVA will provide for your 3 Day Overnight Hiking tour.

WHAT TO WEAR
• Lightweight hiking boots or a sturdy pair of hiking shoes
• Comfortable hiking socks
• Synthetic Wicking T-shirt
• Hiking Shorts (Quick-Dry, Lightweight)
• Rain Jacket (Hooded, Lightweight, Waterproof, Breathable)
• Midweight fleece/wool Jacket or Sweater

DAY 1
• Meet at the Grand Lake Outpost at 9:00am
• Gear up & meet your guide
• Load up, and hit the trail!
• Set up camp near Timber Lake
• Enjoy a lakeside dinner made by your guides
• Catch some ZZZs in your tent or under the stars!

DAY 2
• Wake up to a delicious breakfast/coffee cooked by your guides
• Pack up & launch for day 2
• Lunch and head to Granite Falls to set up camp for the night
• Enjoy the afternoon, relax or take in an afternoon “side” hike.
• Dinner made by your guides

DAY 3
• Wake up to a delicious breakfast/coffee cooked by your guides
• Continue through Tonahutu trail through Big Meadows and enjoy some stunning mountain views
• Return to Outpost in Grand Lake
